Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Kindergarten is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated. Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning.
So much happens in Kindergarten! It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our Kindergarten.
I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Sheila Rivera. I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. I also have a bachelor degree in Communications. I taught pre-K for four years in Puerto Rico, Kindergarten for seven years, First grade for two years, Second grade and Third Grade for one year each. I have been married to a wonderful man for 22 years and we have two great children. Fernando, my oldest child, is 22 years old and my little one Amanda is 19 years old. I hope to be able to share my passion for learning with your child and help him/her from a positive view of education as the year progresses. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with your child and will do my best to help him/her in any way I can.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year in Kindergarten!
